The Ortofon Mono 65 Di Mk II is designed with a wider stylus for 78 RPM records. Although not designated SPU (Stereo Pick-Up), it has the same integral headshell for use in tonearms that accept detachable headshells.
The Mono 65 Di is for use in “universal” bayonet-mount SME-style tonearms (like the SME 3009 or 3012, Thomas Schick, and many others).
The Mono 65 Di is a mono cartridge for 78s. It cannot be used for records other than 78s.
This classic cartridge brings 78 RPM records to life, yielding a full, palpable, sonorous sound. You won’t miss stereo at all.
This cartridge requires connection to a moving-magnet type phono stage with a non-standard loading (“over 100 Ohms,” according to Ortofon, rather than the 47 kOhms of most moving-magnet phono stages). It may sound bright if connected to a standard moving-magnet phono stage.
This is a special-order product, usually shipping within four weeks of order.
