Ortofon Mono 25 Di Mk II

Product Code: ORC102

ex-vat: £ 604.17

The Ortofon Mono 25 Di Mk II, although not designated SPU (Stereo Pick-Up), has the same integral headshell for use in “universal” bayonet-mount SME-style tonearms (like the SME 3009 or 3012, Thomas Schick, and many others). It is designed for the playback of mono LPs and 45s.

This cartridge requires connection to a moving-magnet type phono stage with a non-standard loading (“over 100 Ohms,” according to Ortofon, rather than the 47 kOhms of most moving-magnet phono stages). It may sound bright if connected to a standard moving-magnet phono stage. For standard 47 kOhm phono stages, we recommend the Ortofon SPU Mono Mk II cartridge.

This classic cartridge brings mono recordings to life, yielding a full, palpable, sonorous sound.  You won’t miss stereo at all.

This is a special-order product, usually shipping within four weeks of order.

Press Reviews

“This is among the hallowed few cartridges that really communicate everything that’s special about 1950s and ’60s mono LPs from the likes of Verve, Prestige, Clef, Columbia, and other labels, not to mention the best contemporary mono records.”
