Basic set-up

Because turntable models differ greatly, it is impossible here to offer more than generalised tips on set-up. One rule applies to all turntables, however: they should be placed on solid, perfectly level bases, as far as possible from speakers or other sources of vibration.

Assembly All of our turntables are packed for safe shipping, and will require some assembly. Putting together a turntable is a lot simpler than putting together flat-pack furniture. You can download instructions for many models on the product pages in our Gear section.

Your turntable may already have a cartridge installed, or you may ask us to install one for you. If you need to install a cartridge, detailed instructions will be included with the cartridge. Please note: installing a cartridge requires care and patience.

Fine tuning You may need to adjust some simple settings. Instructions for these, which take a few minutes, will be included with your turntable.

Manufacturers' instructions are usually clear and easy to follow. If you have a problem with set-up, don't hesitate to call us or email us.
