The Clearaudio Innovation Wood is a Panzerholz-based version of the
Innovation, a new benchmark for vinyl replay. Panzerholz is high-gloss plywood
made under such intense pressure that it's bulletproof. It is a
resonance-neutral material, ideal as a foundation for high-end turntables. The
Innovation Wood
incorporates several novel features:
- Stainless steel sub-platter, precision-machined and dynamically
balanced
- Massive 70 mm main platter constructed of frosted acrylic
- High-torque, three-speed (33⅓, 45, and 78 RPM) DC motor,
a departure from Clearaudio's tradition of superb AC motors
- Electronic Optical Speed Control (OSC) system, which consists of an infrared
sensor monitoring a reflective scale on the underside of the
sub-platter, feeding back the readings to a speed regulation circuit for
ultimate speed stability and accuracy
- Optional thinner spindle, allowing the user to compensate for
off-centre pressings
Of course, the Innovation Wood includes
Clearaudio's ceramic/magnetic bearing, a revolutionary bearing
design that literally floats the platter on air. Two tonearms can be
mounted.
