New to vinyl

If you have only ever enjoyed music through a digital format, like CDs or MP3, you may be astonished by the sound of an analogue LP. Music itself, after all, consists of analogue sound waves, heard by a sensitive analogue instrument—your ear.

All digital formats turn sound into numbers when recording music, then numbers into sound when the recording is played. For many audiophiles, this process is to true analogue music what freeze-dried coffee is to fresh-brewed expresso—convenient perhaps, but bearing only a faint resemblance to the real thing.

We want to make getting into vinyl easy. Look first at our pages on what you'll need and handling vinyl. Our page on vinyl sources lists some of the many places to find LPs.

Then check out our Gear section, where you'll find great analogue products like the Pro-Ject RPM9X turntable (left), with links to reviews and other info you'll find useful to decide what's right for you.

Call us at 0800 043 6710 or email us with your comments or questions. You'll find we'll do everything possible to make you happy with your purchase.
