Handling records
Like CDs, records must be kept clean and free of fingerprints.
To play a record, pull the LP inner sleeve from its cardboard jacket. Hold the sleeve in one hand and tilt the opening toward your other hand, gently letting the LP slide out so that its edge rests on the heel of your palm and its label on your fingertips. Once you've set the sleeve aside, hold the LP with both hands at its edge, and place it on the turntable mat.
Start the turntable at the correct speed. Make sure the lift mechanism (a small lever at the base of the tonearm) is raised. Then position the tonearm so the cartridge stylus is a the outer edge of the LP. Lower the lift mechanism. Enjoy the wonderful sound of analogue.
When the music has finished, raise the lift mechanism, and position the tonearm back on its base. Return the record to its sleeve as you removed it, always holding it by its edge.
Before playing a record, we recommend brushing the surface with a carbon fibre brush. Also, we suggest very gently brushing the cartridge stylus—always from back to front—with a small soft brush (probably included when you purchased your cartridge).
